Introducing The Treehouse – Minerva’s New Kids Club!

September 21, 2017 by Minerva Tutors,

This week, Minerva launched our new kids club, The Treehouse, as part of our community outreach program to provide free educational opportunities for children in the local Lambeth area. The Treehouse is based at Pop Brixton, as part of the Pop Brixton Kids Club, which also offers such activities as DJ School, Community Karate and the Little Chef’s School! (Which we must stress has nothing to do with Little Chef, but rather the size of potential learners…)

We’re extremely proud of our past community work with the Baytree Centre in Brixton, and excited for the next step in our work with the local community. Our first project is the Treehouse Reading Club, free for kids aged 5-10 and operating during term-time – and beyond!

We have an ever-growing mobile library full of books to inspire kids of all ages, and will always have Minerva Tutors on hand to read with the kids, encouraging and motivating them to learn to love reading! No matter what your little one’s level or ability, we’ll be there to help bring the pages to life and let imagination run wild.

Soon we’ll need a bigger chest!

And thanks to our partnership with news magazine The Week, we also have copies The Week Junior, to give to our readers, which is a great way for young people to find out about the wider world. From art and science to nature, news and politics, The Week Junior is awesome for helping kids engage with current affairs.

We will help provide them with the basic tools to develop and improve their reading skills, introduce them to classic authors and give them the confidence to read aloud in front of others.
